Last December 2021, a new anime project for Rurouni Kenshin was announced. In the teaser PV, a scene where Kenshin tries to draw his sword was released along with the words "Legend again". It's still a mystery whether the Hokkaido edition currently serialized in Jump Square will be animated, or whether an original story will be developed, but I'm looking forward to it! !
The anime "Rurouni Kenshin -Meiji Swordsman Romantan-" was broadcast from 1996 to 1998, more than 20 years ago. Even the most recently made "Shin-Kyoto Arc" was released in 2012 and 10 years ago. However, in about 20 seconds of the teaser PV, hot memories came back. And what I thought. that is……
After all, I admire special moves!!
Rurouni Kenshin has a variety of techniques. But none of them are human skills. It is not possible to incapacitate the opponent with sword energy shot from the eyes like the "one side of the heart" of the early enemy Udo Hie, and Isurugi Raijuta, who was easily defeated by Kenshin, uses the "flying spirit". Iizuna (a technique that shoots a vacuum blade from a swung sword) is also unlikely to be possible.
However, there was only one technique that I felt that I could learn if I put in the effort. That is Kouya Kariwa's technique "Flying Explosion"!!
Kuya Kariwa, one of the subordinates of Kenshin's nemesis Shishio Makoto, who belongs to the elite unit Juppontou, uses "Flying Explosion", a technique that literally flies in the air and fights. .
Batya has a cloak that looks like a bat's wings on his body that has been lightened to the limit, and multiple dynamites are charged inside. When he fights, he detonates a small amount of dynamite, and the blast catches his cloak and soars into the sky.
In the story, Kuya loses to Yahiko, a 10-year-old boy, partly because he's careless, but if he can fly freely and attack with slashes and bombs, he's pretty strong in actual battle. must be. What I have to do is ``become thin and light, and fight while flying with the blast''. With this much, if you want to do it, you can barely do it!?
Even if you can't have superhuman powers or superhuman dexterity, if you just lose weight, you can do something about it. (While saying this, I have never tried it even after going on a diet.) I am filled with a mysterious confidence that I can acquire the skills of Kouya.
There are many flying creatures such as birds and insects, but their bodies are different from humans. For example, birds have wings and feathers to fly in the sky, and their bones have evolved into light structures called pneumatic bones. These cannot be imitated by humans.
So, let's think about how to fly by referring to the body structure of a bat, which is easy to imagine from Kouya's appearance. Since bats are mammals like humans, their body structure should be similar to that of humans. In addition, the Air Explosion itself is a mechanism of "flying in the sky with a blast", so only the size of the wings will be used as a reference.
If you look into the family of flying foxes, which are the largest bats, the Philippine flying fox has a body length of about 30 cm and a wingspan of about 150 cm. If you do an image search, it's definitely big!!
Assuming that the blade is an isosceles triangle with the base of the wingspan and the height of the body length, the area is calculated as follows.
150cm×30cm÷2=2,250㎠
From, the approximate area of the wings is 2,250㎠, and it can be estimated that wings of this size can lift a weight of 1 to 1.5 kg and fly. For the purposes of calculations, the bat weight is set to the median value of 1.25 kg.
Calculating the weight relationship between bats and bats, 28 kg (bat) ÷ 1.25 kg (bat) = 22.4, so if you have wings with an area of about 22.4 times, you may be able to fly. .
2,250㎠×22.4=50400㎠ 50,400㎠=5.04㎡
That's a decent size. Approximate wingspan from here. Kouya's height is 155cm
X (Wingspan cm) x 155 = 50400 cm2 50400 cm2 ÷ 155 = 325.16 cm (rounded to the second decimal place) 325.16 ÷ 2 = 162.58 cm
In other words, a 160cm wing on one side should be able to float Kouya's weight... It seems that it would not be difficult to carry a wing of about 160 cm on one side.
Flying combat techniques have become more realistic, but when I was researching bats, there was an interesting description. I think that bats have an image of hanging upside down on the ceiling of a cave. I'm worried that spending time in that position will make my blood rush to my head, but there's a reason for that appearance.
Bats have bodies with almost no muscle except for the thorax, which supports the wings to enable flight. As a result, their legs are also very thin and they cannot even stand up to support their own weight. When walking, it looks like it's crawling using its limbs. I can't stand when I'm resting, so I'm in a hanging position like that.
Let's go back to Kouya. Kouya is 155cm tall and weighs 28kg. What's more, humans can't lose weight leaving only their pectoral muscles like bats, so the whole body loses weight.
For reference, Koya's BMI (body mass index) is calculated as "BMI = 28 (kg) ÷ (1.55) 2 (m) 2 = 11.65", which makes him extremely thin. A BMI of 22 is normal, below 18.5 is underweight, and below 16 is underweight. So 11.65 is an unusual number. In some cases, it is life-threatening and requires hospitalization.
In addition, according to the 2017 National Health and Nutrition Survey, the average weight of people in their 20s who are 155 cm tall is 55.6 kg. Since the average muscle mass of men in their twenties is said to be 44%, the weight is simply calculated as 24.464 kg, and the weight of the brain is about 2 to 2.5% of the body weight, so it is about 11 kg.
……As I mentioned earlier, Kouya weighs 28kg. Even with a body that is not a metaphorical expression, the muscle mass is slightly above average. I feel like if I get hit by a blast, I'll lose control and be blown away with my cloak. Rather, it is doubtful that Kouya can stand.
By the way, the realistic weight is 50kg, which is a little less than the average weight. Assuming that the wingspan is calculated as follows. One wing is about 4m, and both wings are about 8m.
70kg÷1.25=56 2,250㎠×56=126,000㎠ 126,000㎠÷155=812.90cm (rounded to the second decimal place) 812.90cm÷2=406.45cm
A typical hang glider has a wingspan of about 9m and a weight of about 20kg. Surprisingly, as a result of approximating numerical values with reference to bat wings, I arrived at a hang glider that exists in reality. Theoretically, air blasting is possible if it's something that exists in reality, but it seems impossible to fight.
Before I looked into it, I thought, "You can learn it if you put in the effort, right?" This seems impossible for ordinary people. Kuya Kariwa, sorry for underestimating you!
Now that we know how great Air Explosion is, it goes without saying how amazing Kenshin and Sanosuke's techniques are. "Rurouni Kenshin" is a parade of amazing and cool moves. It's exciting to think that a new anime project is in motion.
I don't know the details yet, but in order to enjoy the new anime to the fullest, I would like to review the Tokyo, Kyoto, and Reminiscence arcs that are based on the original. increase!!
